fireman hats (and another owl)

it's been hard to get anything posted on this website lately, because almost everything i've been working on has been for christmas, and i wouldn't want to risk people figuring out what their gifts are ;). these cute little firehats are for my girls' best friends, two brothers who love firemen/trucks/etc... naturally these little firefighters have plenty of gear, but i thought a little winter-weather appropriate hat might be nice :). we gave them to the boys yesterday, and their mom informed me that they love them, so it's good enough for me! Merry Christmas J & D!
also another of the cute little sleepy owl hats for a sweet little toddler. i loved the turquoise-purple combo--one of my personal favorite owl-hats to date!

newsboy hat

this little beauty is for a friend, made from alpaca yarn, it's super-soft, and just a bit slouchy. It looks huge on my 5-yr old, but I promise, I made it to fit my friend :). We loved working in the little flower... just a bit girly, but not too much.

I'll have lots more new posts and ideas up after Christmas--amazing how limited I am in what I can post till then!

monster slippers

these super-cute monster eye slippers were made for a friend's nephews for christmas, bug brother gets blue--he's 2, and baby brother gets the green (hopefully the bootie-design will help him keep them on!)

balls

these super cute and soft balls are great for indoors, i don't even think my kids could break anything if they tried (hopefully they won't take that as a challenge!) they're three circles that intersect to make an amish puzzle ball, though there's really not much to puzzle about :).

this one's about 4 inches diameter, the bigger one, below, is about 6 inches across.

yes, i let my daughter pick the colors on the big ball... red, orange, and purple go great together when you're three! at least she picked some nice soft yarns!
pattern from: http://www.lookatwhatimade.net/crafts/patterns/crochet-amish-puzzle-ball/ i modified the little ball, but it's still essentially the same pattern, just smaller.

big and small owl hats

these hats are so fun and cute, they're made to match, one child and one adult, colors and type of yarn chosen by the buyer. after all, what girl doesn't like pink and purple?

switching it up a little for a grown-up owl hat is a necessary for me, so i mixed the gray in, and gave it a little more of a sassy adult look :)

more owl hats

everyone loves a good owl hat :)

i made these for a couple girls in my girls' ballet class... i would sit and crochet and talk to the other moms, and they were a big hit. naturally, the new owners get to pick out the colors. my 3-yr old and i had an idea too, to try for the next one, with a fade in color moving from one solid color on top to another at bottom, but something mixed in between for the fun of it. if anyone's interested in trying that, let me know :)

minnie mouse headband

the bow is specially designed to be big and floppy, and the ears are detachable from the headband in case they fit your child better bobby pinned to her hair (as in this photo)

acorn cap

note the earflaps and ties, makes it a lot easier to get it to stay on baby's head, and it's cute to boot!

bears

these delightful little bears are soft and snuggly. machine washable and super-soft. the arms and legs bend so it can sit or stand (against something :). this white bear is about 9 inches tall, and could be made with a bow or a scarf).

this one's for my daughter for christmas, and is my modified pattern
